ABOUT MRS. MIKE’S

In 1971, Butch Mordick bought the Mrs. Mike's Potato Chip Company. More than 50 years later, Butch happily admits the company has grown beyond his vision. Renamed Mrs. Mike’s Potato Chips, Freeport, Illinois still serves as homebase for the company, although they now have a nationwide customer base.

While potato chips are still the company’s biggest seller, Mr's. Mike’s has added a variety of gourmet popcorn that "fit well into the mix."

"In 2005, we invested in equipment to make our own brand of cheese popcorn – a product that we make onsite."

Mrs. Mike's has operated as a small family business out of the same building since 1971 – employing all four of Butch’s children over the years, including his daughter Beth and three sons, Mike, Matt and Dan.

Sadly, in early 2023, Butch and Matt both passed away three days apart. Matt’s twin brother Dan is now the owner and carrying on the family business and legacy.

OUR PROCESS

How Mrs. Mike’s Makes The Famous Potato Chips

Mrs. Mike's Potato Chips uses between two and three 1,200-pound crates of potatoes every day. They are first placed into a hopper that washes and sorts the potatoes. After being cleaned and sorted, the potatoes are peeled and sliced before they are placed into the cooker. Once in the cooker, they are fried at 300 degrees.

Mrs. Mike's Potato Chips are thick-sliced, crisp and always fresh. Our potato chips are served at many local establishments throughout Freeport, IL and surrounding communities.
